drabble

Title: What no one could see
Characters: Bones/Booth
Rating: PG
Word count: 200
Spoilers: The Finger in The Nest
Feedback: Please!

It pained him to see her voice shaky and her face hurt from disappointment. Sometimes he knew the right words to say to try to mend it but some other times he could only just stand by her side and listen to her while she vented.

“Ripley was a good dog. He killed because he wanted to please his master,” he heard her words echoing in his mind and lowered his head. The only thing he could do for her was offer a hug and hope he could somehow remove the burden of hurt off her shoulders. And he’d hold her for as long as he could, for as long as he had the arms to do it or the energy to fight her and keep her into his embrace. And Booth knew she wouldn’t allow it and she wouldn’t break; she might bend but she’d never break. That was the underlying beauty of Brennan, the one hardly anyone got the chance to see.
